lOL ill still be too shy to ask for a hug if i ever get to meet him again im worried he might say no then i would look stupid. i hope they tour the uk again Maria, I understand. When I saw them for the first time in Albany, NY last November, I was nervous about speaking up and asking for a hug but I did and I got one. Kiki is right, he never says no and I have no doubt that they will tour the uk again.

What to say......hmmm.....
My name is Shannon. I have been stuck in the Land of the Boring for 11 long years, next saturday I am getting out.....making my great escape from this hell hole....WOOHOO.....btw when I say Land of the Boring I am referring to the boring state of New Mexico, in case some of you don't know.
I am moving to Janesville Wisconsin.
I used to not like the Goo's. When Name came out I remember turning to MTV (this was when they still played videos, well a bit more often anyways) and Name came on, I switched the channel, cause I put them in the same category as Nirvana and Pearl Jam, Grunge music that I hated, so I blew them off. Then when Iris came out I hated that song because the radio station that I listened to would play in every 5 or 10 minutes, it was driving me nuts....I even changed radio stations because of that.
Fast forward a bit, after my mom passed away I had a hard time sleeping....I get BAAAAD cases of insomnia. It SUCKS ASS!!!!!!!! Anyways, one night I was flipping through the channels, on a night that it seemed impossible for me to sleep, nothing was on TV, well not anything worth watching. So I went to the On Demand feature that my cable had, there was a music section and in there was a section for live concerts. So I checked that out and saw Live in Buffalo by the Goo Goo Dolls. I decided to watch it, cause there wasn't anything else on....and I immediately wondered if they were the band that did that song from that movie (at the time I didn't know the name of the song and couldn't place the name for the movie, a movie that I hadn't seen) anyways, I watched it, no Iris, so I figured that they weren't the band that did that song.
So the next day I went to Wal-Mart, and went to the music section, and saw the Live in Buffalo cd/dvd, I looked at the back and saw Iris and then realized that they did do that song. That didn't stop me from buying it though. I didn't watch the actual dvd until the show was taken off of the on demand thing, I watched it every night it was on.
So I watched the DVD, I discovered the commentary on there by accident though...lol....
I immediately started doing internet searches, image searches, by the end of that first week, I had bought all of the cd's of theirs that I could find, I now have all of their cd's except for the first release, cause well I am not spending 50 or more dollars on a cd, don't care who it is.
Well, I fell in love with the Goo's music even more when Better Days came out. The first thing that I thought about when I heard that song was that I wished it had came out when my mom died. That song is the only song that has ever made me cry on first listen. I have read stories of how a song made someone cry, I never understood it though, cause it had never happened to me....but now I get it.....man do I get it.
I joined the IM the day before its official launch.......have been addicted to it The first message board that I joined was the World of Goo board, which is a great place, I can't stay on the board very long though......can't explain why though.....I had found AG when I found the world of goo board, but didn't join, mainly because when I first found it there was talk of it going away, but AG decided to stick around so I joined.......I found this board over at one of the goo goo dolls related groups that I belong to on myspace, Nick had posted the link there.....I checked it out and decided to join......I joined shortly after Nick started this board.
My first Goo show was on May 13, 2006, I was supposed to graduate from college on that day so originally I wasn't going to be able to go, then I was pretty much forced to take an incomplete and couldn't graduate (6 weeks away from graduation and I was told I couldn't finish my program...boy did that suck). I decided that I needed something to look forward to so I bought myself a ticket for the show, booked a hotel room, booked a flight, reserved a rental car. I was all set. That show was a GREAT show. Then I saw them again when they came here to NM, and I won a meet and greet. That was the best 2.5 minutes I have had in my life, nevermind that I didn't say anything to them....they didn't say anything to me either though so its alright. That was a GREAT show as well. Then I saw them again on Valentine's Day, I took my niece with me for a birthday present, her birthday was the day after the show. El Paso is not a very exciting place to be but the Plaza Theater was a great venue and the show was GREAT.

hello my name is Andrea and i'm a goo-a-holic. I've been a fan basically since i was 11 or 12. now i am 19. the goo goo dolls' music helped me out during a hard time. i checked into treatment center when i was 14. i wasn't allowed a lot of things. no computer, no internet, i got 10 min phone calls though. one of the few things i actually enjoyed during my stay there was going out side to play, and listen to music on this little radio. that was back in 2002, when Here Is Gone first came out. i can recall hearing it for the first time. i remember thinking "is that the goo goo dolls?" i was sure that it was. even in my delirium i knew John's voice. i also remember saying "they still got it." i guess thats why HIG is one of my favorite goo songs. if i hadn't of heard HIG on the radio those 3 months, i don't know if i would have made it through it all. i just love them so much.

I'm so glad Goo has been there for you. HIG is one of my faves but for a very different reason. I could have written that song, I can identify with it so well.

Okay, I'm finally getting around to writing this, some of you have already heard bits and pieces of my story. My name is Laura, and I grew up in the city of Buffalo. I now live north of the city in North Tonawanda with my husband, son, dog and 1 goldfish! I had a choice of high schools between the public school McKinley High School for art (where John went for plumbing a few years after me) or the Catholic school for secretarial. I thought I would be able to get a better job with the business classes, now wish I had gone for the art. Still love to use my artistic side for my scrapbooking though! Living in Buffalo I was always hearing about the goos, and when they were still living here there were many times when I would hear on the radio about the goos that they were supposed to be here or there but was always busy and never went. I always remembered reading the stories in the newspaper about what they were doing. During the 90's I wasn't into music as much but I had joined a cd club and believe it or not, they had all the early cd's from the band, so I asked my husband if he would like them, so I bought them for him. When I was in the delivery room for my son 6/9/96 we had the radio playing on station 103.3 and my son was born at 1:03 in the morning, and the song that was on the radio was "Name" so I have always told my son that is his song. I've told my story about City of Angels, how when that came out I liked the song Iris but went to see the movie right before I was to go in for my cancer surgery and how meaningful the movie was to me. Still just an average fan. Then in 2004 the goos were coming to Buffalo to do the live concert. Heard all about it, but wasn't able to go. So when the cd/dvd came out I said I really wanted that for Christmas, which my husband bought for me. Well, after watching them Live, I was hooked. The magic that I felt from John and the band from that live concert really hit me. I then became obsessed. Asked my husband where all those cd's were that I bought him, eventually got the ones we didn't have. I started doing searchs on the internet to find out all I could about the band. Joined absolutegoo, and when that shut down I came over here. My son and I went to Media play the day after Thanksgiving in 05 to meet Robby and get a signed Music is Hope Cd. I had my son take my photo with Robby, and he seemed so nice and down to earth! If you brought in a pez dispenser, you got a grab bag so we got two. It was a brown paper bag but it contained a photo of the band, and the broadway cd which contains, broadway, black balloon, slide, live version of naked, and live version of black balloon. I love that cd! I didn't have the money to go see them in 2006 when they had there 2 concerts here but this last summer my husband surprised me by buying us the tickets to the concert for our anniversary. Now that I've finally seen them live, I can't wait to go again. So that's pretty much it, always heard the band and liked them but not until the live cd that I really appreciated them like I do now. It's great living in the Buffalo area, and hearing about them all the time and the good things they do for the area which I've posted when I see them. The city isn't what it used to be when I was growing up there, so hopefully they are okay when they are here at there new studio!! I'll have to go by some day and take a photo of it to post!!
